But wait, we can read minds - check our faqs!
Each MonkeyFeet is rated to hold a 160lb dumbbell max, although we have reached more than 250lb+ during our engineering testing! For safety ratings, we cap it at 160lb (which are the biggest standard dumbbells). This being said, we strongly recommend customers focus on proper technique and using manageable weight to avoid injury.
MonkeyFeet works with any handle that is 5” or more wide, and 1.45” or less in diameter. This means most dumbbells, most cable machine handles, and even some kettlebells!
MonkeyFeet is a “one size fits most” design, which will work with most shoes up to US men’s size 14 comfortably as long as they are less than 3.5" wide. With that being said, MonkeyFeet works much better with smaller heeled shoes, if that is possible to accommodate!
MonkeyFeet requires a 5” wide handle width to fit, so anything above that is good to go. We haven’t had a chance to test every BowFlex version yet, but all of the ones we’ve seen do work - like this one!
MonkeyFeet requires a 5” wide handle width to fit, so anything above that is good to go. Most NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells work and actually have one of the best fits with MonkeyFeet out of all adjustable dumbbell versions.
Unfortunately our design is not able to “access” the handle on Powerblocks. They have somewhat of an unorthodox style in comparison to most dumbbells.
Compared to ankle weights, MonkeyFeet allows you to turn any standard dumbbell into a leg exercise. This means you can reach much heavier weights (up to 160lbs, compared to ankle weights that max out at 20lbs!). MonkeyFeet also allows you to seamlessly switch between weights when ankle weights are a hassle to put on and take off. MonkeyFeet is also light and much easier to transport to the gym/hotel/etc, and compared to a full ankle weight set is actually cheaper!
Resistance bands are a form of “resistance” training, which obey linear variable resistance. This means that as the band stretches more, the resistance (or “load”) gets greater (heavier). In contrast, weights are a constant load throughout the movement (30lbs is 30lbs at the bottom and top of a given movement). Because of this concept, bands and free weights are two different methods of fitness training - where both are useful and worth integrating into any workout regiment!
This awesome video by Ben Patrick aka KneesOverToesGuy goes over why strengthening your hip flexors doesn’t make them any tighter than they are, it actually helps loosen them!
When used correctly, MonkeyFeet is actually one of the healthiest tools you can use for your knees. Using proper form and the correct amount of weight, MonkeyFeet exercises are some of the best ways to build the muscles around the knee. Building these muscles adds protection to the joint and relieves pressure, leading to a more robust and pain free life for your knees. Even if you are recovering from a knee injury, MonkeyFeet can be used to rehab the joint back to health and bulletproof it for the future - just ask any of our physical therapist customers!
The best shoes for MonkeyFeet are typically low heel workout shoes, which keep your foot as low as possible. The shoe heel also has to be 3.5” or less wide in order to fit in the device. We have a few favorites, but our top choice is these No Bull High Tops.
We tried putting our products on Amazon and the impact on our business was less than favorable; it left our customers dissatisfied with their customer service experience and eroded our profit margins due to high fees. We made the decision to remove our products, directing our customers to our site, where they can find a superior offer and product guarantee. Check out our full blog post here for more details
At Animalhouse Fitness, we have a 30-day “no questions asked” refund policy, while standing by our products for life! Check out the full policy here.
